In every heartbeat of true Ishq, Time folds into silence. Where lovers meet, the universe pauses — breath held, awaiting the next beat of eternity.

In this work, I explore the timeless and transformative nature of Ishq — a love so profound that it transcends the boundaries of existence itself. The hourglass, a universal symbol of passing time, becomes here a vessel of stillness. In the presence of true love, time does not flow — it surrenders. It pauses. It dissolves.

Crafted using the expressive elegance of Diwani script, known for embodying the intensity and refined madness of passion, each stroke carries the breath and rhythm of a lover’s longing.

The script forms an hourglass containing a heart — where red letters appear as if falling, yet remain suspended. This frozen descent symbolises the sacred moment when the Ashiq meets the Mashuq, and the world holds its breath. Motion stills. The outer world fades. Only love remains.

The letters used are drawn from the Arabic alphabet — the building blocks of expression, life, and creation. Yet one letter is intentionally absent: ي (ya’), the final letter of the Arabic alphabet. Its omission holds meaning — ya represents the end, النهاية . In Ishq, there is no end. True love has no concluding chapter, no final breath. It stretches beyond time, beyond language, beyond worldly limits. By excluding the final letter, the work rejects the idea of ending — affirming that real Ishq is eternal, infinite, and unbound.

Blue hues shape the vessel of time, grounding the piece in calmness and depth, while the red heart pulses with warmth, surrender, and devotion. The hourglass stands still, yet alive — a paradox that mirrors the inner world of the lover.

When the Ashiq meets the Mashuq, time dissolves. The soul recognises eternity. In that union, the material world fades, and only love remains — breathless, suspended, eternal.

 Through this piece, I invite the viewer to witness the sacred pause and power of true Ishq — where time freezes, hearts awaken, and the soul tastes forever.
